Is AI a net benefit to society?

It depends. 

Thoughtful regulation, transparency, and accountability can steer AI toward broad benefit: better healthcare, education, and productivity. Without guardrails, it risks deepening inequality, surveillance, and misinformation. The technology itself is neutral; our collective choices determine whether it helps or harms.

I use it every day and it's made me genuinely better at my job. Hard to argue it's a net negative when the evidence in my own life points the other way.
